1. Distraint: Pocket Pixel Horror

Let’s kick this list off with on of my favorite games. Distraint: Pocket Pixel Horror is one of the few games that will appeal to you if you are a die hard fan of classic horror movies. Originally Developed for PC and released on steam in 2015, this side scrolling game is a very unusual experience in a good way. The visuals look dated because of the art style and the movement feels slow. But, for what this game lacks in those areas, it more than makes up for in the atmosphere and creep factor.

There are no jumpscares or creepy twins but this game manages to retain a level of suspense that has you on the edge most of the time. This type of horror is nuanced and very rare. You play the character of Price who goes on a weird, yet fascinating journey after seizes an old lady’s property. The gameplay consists of moving left and right to pick up puzzle solving elements and that’s it. The story is engaging and the dark humor is always welcome
